Berneses |
I have been involved with dogs nearly all my life. I had my first dog 1971, Carelian Bear Dog "Rekku". With Rekku I started my love of this hobby. I started to visit dog shows (without a dog, Rekku wasn't show dog) and all kind of dog happenings. 1982 I finally got the permission from my parents to have a "real show dog"! I was lucky! My first show dog and also my first Bernese Mountain Dog was very successful male FIN & S CH, FINV-85, FINV-89 Valkeakoivun Carro (13 CACIBs). Carro lived with us almost 12 years. Since that I have had Berneses, first one, then two, then... Right now we (I, my husband Janne and our son Eemil) are sharing our home with five lovely Bernese person. I tend to keep the number of dogs at home as minimum as possible (which is difficult…) and have more co-owned to be able to plan some interesting combinations in the future, without being forced to use all bitches in breeding. Co-ownership makes that possible. |

| Berneses part of the family | Our Berneses have always been part of our family. All of our dogs are living inside the house with us. Puppies are always growing up in our kitchen and all over the house. Normally we are making only one or two litters a year sometimes not even that. We are trying to do only quality not quantity. We are always trying to do our best but even that is not always enough as all breeders know. Bernese Mountain Dog is absolutely most incredible breed but not the easiest one to breed. | |
| Doing co-operation | We have had honour to make co-operation with famous Sennetta's kennel in Denmark more than 19 years. Without our Danish import bitches CH Sennetta's Pearl and INT CH Sennetta's Tea our results wouldn't be so excellent than they are nowadays! We have also been lucky to make co-operation with some excellent breeders in Belgium, Sweden, Norway, Germany, Canada... getting something new and also something good into our lines... We have import during these years 9 Berneses from five different countries and export until now Riccarron Berneses to nine different countries. | |
| Winners and Champions | Riccarron Berneses have won Finnish Specialty 1999 & 2000 & 2002 & 2005 and 2nd Specialty 1998 & 1999 & 2000 & 2005! We have bred and owned several national and international Champions and Winners, Specialty Winners, even two World Winners!! We are proud of our results. We want to thank all our puppy owners and friends all over the world for their help! | |
| Most Winning Bernese kennel | Riccarron has been the most winning Bernese kennel in Finland (Swiss Mountain and Cattle Dogs of Finland competition) 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003,2004 and again year 2005!! | |

We have been awarded the Vuolasvirta Breeder's Plaque of the Finnish Kennel Club for meritorious breeding (3rd Bernese kennel in Finland!). We have been awarded also the FDBC Breeder's Plaque of the Finnish Dog Breeders Club FDBC as FIRST BMD breeder in Finland. | |
